Why did the client contact us?

A St Albans homeowner wanted to replace their small driveway with a modern, practical solution that would make the most of the space. Their existing driveway had water pooling issues, so they needed a drainage solution to prevent future problems. We recommended block paving for its durability and looks and an improved drainage system to keep the surface dry and functional.

Block paving is great for small driveways as it offers design flexibility. The client chose a classic combination of warm blocks with a charcoal border to give their driveway a stylish and defined look.

What work was done?

We started by excavating and preparing the ground to ensure a solid base. Proper groundwork is key, especially for smaller driveways, to prevent movement over time.

Next, we installed additional drainage channels along the edges of the driveway to prevent water from accumulating. Once the drainage was in place, we laid the block paving in the client’s chosen colour scheme to create a neat and practical finish that made the most of the space.
